Patriots-Eagles Game Observations (First Half)

A few observations from the TV copy:

  • It looks like the Patriots use WR Tiquan Underwood’s speed as a decoy on some running plays, hoping that the defense takes a safety out of the box in order to guard against Underwood making a long play (which he’s never done for the Patriots in a regular season game).
  • A lot of quarterback hits (4 in the first quarter) on QB Tom Brady early in this game, it seemed like on almost every passing down would result in Brady being thrown to the ground. The Patriots didn’t give up any sacks in the first quarter, however, they did give one up on the first play of the second quarter.
  • Good open field tackle at around 6 minutes to go in the first half by S Sterling Moore on RB Lesean McCoy, who is one of the league’s top running backs. Moore started the play around 25 yards from the line of scrimmage and closed in on McCoy and took him down around the legs, making a safe tackle.
