Patriots-Jets Game Observations (Second Half)

A few observations from the TV copy of the game:

  • Charting dropped passes (flat out drops, not misthrows or pass breakups) from Jets receivers : 5 in the game.
  • On Joe McKnight’s 88 yard kickoff return, it seemed that because McKnight was returning the kick from 8 yards deep in his endzone, the Patriots coverage team arrived down at the Jets end of the field still in a wide line across the field, as McKnight hadn’t yet made a motion of which way he would run upfield. Also, great hustle from McCourty to chase down McKnight.
  • Repeating a statistic which was shown during the game, but is still a great testament to how the defense played: In the first four games, the Pats forced 8 ‘3 & outs’, and in this game, 7.
  • One thing I notice about Patrick Chung is that he has very sure tackling technique. He usually wraps up the ballcarrier, but also delivers a big hit in situations where other Patriots are around to help wrap up, or near the sideline where a missed tackle wouldn’t have too much of an impact.
